Brothers Thomas and Joe Young are the creative entities that form the 60s/70s rock-pop group Victims of the New Math.
Their newest album, Satellite Head, is now available.
Giving into their undying love of the classic, British influenced era of rock and pop music, Satellite Head is a collection of lo-fi jams with soundscapes that have a tendency to evoke feelings of intergalactic travel.
For Victims of the New Math, music is a passion project and a joyful hobby which these two have indulged themselves in since the ’80s.
If you’re wondering about the band name, it might have something to do with the fact Thomas is an engineer who works in the utilities industry and Joe is math major who works as a programmer. I’m sure this provides plenty of fuel and inspiration for those late night songwriting sessions 😉
About their new album, Thomas and Joe say,
The album is truly a family affair, including sister Sue Halpin, who did the band photography; daughter Sophia Tew, who did the artwork for the album – a painting based on the title, and Thomas’s sons, Jackson, playing the trumpet; Nick, who came up with the album title, and William Tew, who photographed the cover, as well as Thomas’s wife Kelly, the overall inspiration for doing the album, and Joe’s wife Lynn, who is handling the marketing.”
You can stream and download the full length album on the band’s Bandcamp site.
