Immersing herself into music since an early age, Velvet Winter started her musical journey as a tenor saxophonist before moving to drums and indulging herself in the infamous “rebellious garage rock” phase.
I’ve always loved loud music and crazy hair. I’ve also always been incredibly outspoken and somewhat of a free thinker. I learned at a young age how incredibly judgmental people can be about anyone they do not understand.”
After moving to Los Angeles a few years ago, Velvet Winter began her journey as a songwriter eventually recording an EP with producer Doug Grean after a health scare during 2015.
I battled drinking and anxiety meds for years. I guess I have the classic ‘artist with a broken past thing’ working for me!…I hope to connect with people with troubled pasts whether its drug abuse, eating disorders, sexual orientation and others. My heart goes out to people with depression, PTSD and other illnesses that you can’t see on the surface.”
With all this back story as context, Velvet Winter’s newest single (and video) Crystal Heart is a powerful, compelling, infectious wall of sound guaranteed to make you FEEL something, whether emotional, spiritual or physical…or all of the above.
Incorporating and meshing experimental elements with raw indie rock vibes, Crystal Heart will leave you wanting more of Velvet Winter’s new project which, as she states,
The project has so much happening now I wouldn’t know where to begin. You’ll just have to wait and see!”
