Today marks a monumental day for indie rock enthusiasts as Vanishing Shores, the acclaimed band led by singer-songwriter Kevin Bianchi, releases the brand-new EP titled “Possible Light, Pt. 1.” This exciting new collection features the standout singles “Change Your Ways” and “We Still Own the Night,” showcasing the band’s signature blend of melodic Britpop and indie rock urgency.
Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, Vanishing Shores is known for their exploration of beauty through music. Formed as a vehicle for Kevin Bianchi’s musical expression, Vanishing Shores has spent the last three years perfecting a sound that is both intensely personal and universally resonant. With a rotating collective of collaborators, each contributing unique talents, the band meticulously shapes their musical vision both in the studio and on stage.
Bianchi shares about the EP: “‘Possible Light, Pt. 1’ was created over a period of two years, largely on my long commute back and forth from Ohio to New York each week. It is an album that explores many different emotions and perspectives, but they all ultimately focus on a love that refuses to give up or surrender. It is an album that always suggests or hints at a hope that is bigger and more powerful than any darkness in the moment. It is a hopeful album, but not a delusional one or one that is content to pacify itself in any individual mythologies. The opening track encapsulates the entire theme of the album. Everything we experience and feel in the moment has so much more beauty that is wanting to teach us if we would only stay awake and let it find us.“
Drawing from a diverse spectrum of influences including The Beatles, David Bowie, Elvis Costello, and Tom Petty, Vanishing Shores weaves a sonic tapestry that blends classic rock with a modern indie sensibility. Their music, reminiscent of luminaries like Paul McCartney and Lindsey Buckingham, invites listeners into a world where emotion reigns supreme.
Lyrically, Vanishing Shores eschews traditional storytelling, opting instead for capturing fleeting moments and emotions. Their songs serve as snapshots of experience, offering insights into the complexities of human relationships and the beauty found within life’s struggles.
Kevin Bianchi, a multi-instrumentalist and producer, brings a wealth of musical expertise to the band, crafting intricate guitar melodies, soulful piano and bass lines, and producing albums that push the boundaries of indie rock.
The new EP, “Possible Light, Pt. 1,” is a testament to Vanishing Shores’ commitment to authenticity and emotional exploration. This release delves deep into the complexities of human emotion and experience, drawing listeners into a soundscape that is as introspective as it is expansive. Each track on the EP is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, blending intricate guitar melodies with soulful piano compositions and dynamic bass lines, all produced with boundary-pushing techniques that challenge and redefine indie rock.
“We Still Own the Night,” one of the EP’s leading singles, epitomizes the band’s ethos of defiant love. Bianchi explains, “I wrote ‘We Still Own the Night’ to promote a feeling of defiant love. Traditionally, the ‘night’ brings a sense of the unknown and fear. However, when we live a life of selfless love, there is nothing that can overcome us or that we can’t ‘transform,’ even the darkest of nights. This song aims to connect with the listener and join them in a spirit of true and fearless love.”
“Change Your Ways,” another highlight from the EP, explores the dialogue on ‘extremes’ and the transformative power of love in the everyday moments of life. Bianchi shares, “I wrote this song as a dialogue on ‘extremes’. While these ‘extremes’ are important, we live most of our lives in the ‘in-between’ moments. The real focus of life is not whether we can ‘break even’ in the amount of happiness or suffering we experience, but rather in how we can fearlessly love one another in the ‘in-between’ moments.”
Kevin Bianchi, a virtuoso multi-instrumentalist and producer, infuses the band’s sound with intricate guitar melodies, soulful piano compositions, and boundary-pushing production techniques. This EP, like their previous works, showcases Bianchi’s ability to create music that is both deeply personal and universally appealing.
With an impressive repertoire including releases such as the self-titled Vanishing Shores EP (2018), “Bande-son Pour La Survie” (2020), “Maps” (2021), and the “St. Francis” EP (2022), alongside the electrifying “Dead Language” live album (2022), Vanishing Shores continues to enthrall audiences with their infectious melodies and profound lyricism.
In addition to their solo ventures, Vanishing Shores has collaborated with esteemed artists such as Bill Mallonee of Vigilantes of Love and graced the stage with luminaries like James McCartney. Fueled by a lifelong dedication to the craft of songwriting, the band’s early musical experiences inform their ongoing pursuit of musical excellence.
“Possible Light, Pt. 1” stands as a testament to Vanishing Shores’ unwavering commitment to authenticity and emotional depth. Through their music, the band invites listeners on a journey of self-discovery, where every chord resonates with the power to heal, inspire, and transcend. This EP is not just a collection of songs, but a cohesive narrative that speaks to the human experience in all its complexity and beauty.
