The Sacreblues Band – Sad Reality
The Sacreblues Band is an Irish-French project based in Dublin and active since 2011. Though influences are many, their sound may be qualified as French swing. Bass lines are bluesy and the Mademoiselle’s voice cheers it up s’il vous plaît. The band sings in French, English and occasionally in Kabyle (berber dialect). Members are Johnny Mack (bass guitar, mandolin, banjo), Mélissa Aït Chellel (vocals, guitar, flute), Carl King-Woe (percussions, backing vocals) and Tom Cassidy (lead guitar). Released work: Sad Reality (debut album, April 2016), Say What you Say (EP, 2014) and Une fois pour toutes (EP, 2013).
Sad Reality is the title track off their debut album recently released.
We sing sing serious stuff over cheerful melodies, simply because life is too short not to! The song was written by Johnny Mack – one of the original founders of the band-: as an Irishman he knows very well how to describe the irony of a situation and make fun of it. He had been listening to quite a bit of French swing and he wanted to reach a cartoonesque sound — if such thing. We had a lot of fun recording this song in only one take.
