Sleepdebt – Alone Time
Sleepdebt is a producer and DJ from Manchester, UK, who idiosyncratically casts influences from downtempo and the Miami-via-Tokyo haze of synthwave against grainy field recordings, warm clicky percussion, and intimate ASMR-inducing vocal cuts, which, on his newly released Gravity EP, projects a lovelorn cinematic journey far removed from his dreary native city.
Taking inspiration from artists such as Boards of Canada, Gold Panda, and Com Truise – to name a few – Sleepdebt juxtaposes obscure samples, detuned synth pads and organic instruments to create atmospheres equal parts melancholic, sheltered, soothing and dissociative.
Just on the back of his mid-May DJ set at The Bunker along with Worriedaboutsatan and From The Kites of San Quentin, Gravity was released digitally through Manchester collective This City Is Ours on May 30 2016.
