Nomadic psychedelic folk rock songwriter and Australian native Tom Woodward has arrived with an intriguing and refreshing new album, Beautiful Shadows.
Beautiful Shadows was written on buses, underneath trees, in spare rooms and on wintry park benches as Tom traveled busking and performing across various regions of the planet.
He poured his earnings into studio time which resulted in uniting forces with the majestic production of Yen Nguyen and the talents of some of Australia’s finest, sexiest musicians: Munro Melano, Sean Hamilton, Chris Hancock, Yen Nguyen, and not to mention the iconoclast Hubert Von Kunt.
Tom’s dedication to his craft becomes obvious the moment you play Beautiful Shadows; the single and the album (which starts off with Run Run Run).
It is worth noting Woodward won the Canberra Critics Circle Award For Contemporary Music and was Short-listed for Young Australian Of The Year for contribution to arts and culture.
Tom is a master of the songwriting craft and, with a high caliber team of musicians, he has managed to create something truly unique. The wide arrange of styles and influences found on Beautiful Shadows is a true display of Woodward’s deep connection with music and his ability to create jams unlike anything you’ve heard before.
I am having a hard time choosing a favorite song but Hand of Time really stuck out the last time I listened through the entire record. Yes, you will listen to these 10 songs multiple times. You will also notice something new each time you listen through which adds to the refreshing nature of this sonic treat.
You’ll really enjoy White Roses as well! …and the other 8 songs on the album!
Beautiful Shadows, the single, is now streaming on Soundcloud. The video is on YouTube.
