Deep in the mountains of Colorado, an experiment of epic proportions has been taking place in secret. Under the guise of Nematode Records, a mysterious group known as Those Shadow People have been weaving in and out of your wi-fi hot spots for the past 2 years collaborating on a musical project ready to Open Your Eyes.
This folktronica, beat-centric project spans multiple genres and has covered great distances including lyrics, vocals, and trumpets in Seattle as well as drummers, singers, and instrumentalists in California, Louisiana, and Tennessee (what else you think happens in these hills?)
Accompanying the soundscape, to be released September 25th on 7″ vinyl, will be a companion comic book written by Phil Buck and illustrated by Erik Turner. The story centers on Sarah Saber whose father is a physicist working with dark matter. From Nematode Records’ press release:
The music and the comic book story of Those Shadow People gravitate around themes of destiny, identity, and how the choices we make affect them both. The shadow is a constant reference for reflection, possibility, and the unknown. Each of these motifs and their many different combinations create a backdrop for lyrical and narrative exploration. Those Shadow People bring all these elements together in their music and storytelling for the second release from Nematode Records: NTMD-0002.
