I’ve got a good one for us today indie music fans. Allow me to introduce you to the Rock-Rap Dynasty of The Voices of Terror.
New Jersey natives Mike Walker and Zero have joined forces to create and unleash their own rap/rock hybrid – aka The Voices of Terror.
Many hybrid groups followed in the wake of collaborations between Run DMC and Aerosmith — Anthrax and Public Enemy — then the rise of Rage Against the Machine and their copycats. I haven’t really concerned myself with this niche genre since Rage dropped their first album…
The Voices of Terror just brought me back.
From the composition/production to the lyrics to their obvious foundation in True School Hip Hop; Walker and Zero bring it and they bring it hard.
In your face guitars, thumping kicks, grooving bass, and a vocal presence you can’t ignore; The Voices of Terror poured everything they are into this album and it shows.
Unlike their predecessors, this powerhouse duo’s foundation in the Classic Era of Hip Hop shines through on each production. This base provides a unique texture I haven’t felt since Rick Rubin worked with Run DMC and Beastie Boys.
Catching your attention with the opening “Warning”, you will be convinced by track 6 that you have encountered the next “Insane Lyricist” tripping over the “D.E.A.T.H. of RAP” in an attempt to bring it back.
With music as their “Lethal Weapon”, The Voices of Terror have stepped onto the scene with a strong and solid debut. At ages 21 and 25, Walker and Zero are just getting started.
