Don’t miss our introductory interview with Boise, Idaho’s Audio Moonshine.
Welcome to The Speakeasy Sessions with Idaho Alt-Americana-Rock outfit Audio Moonshine.
Not only is this a well produced album filled with 12 finely crafted tunes, but more importantly, this quartet knows how to rock your socks off.
There’s no stopping a group of musicians once they find their state of flow and that’s exactly what The Speakeasy Sessions sounds like; four musicians who have found their groove and have become masters of their craft.
It’s difficult to choose a favorite track when an album is this good but if I must choose – I choose “Corporate Tool”. An excellent use of 3:53 for an independent band to make a statement through music. I think many can and will appreciate the message.
But then I hear this dude rapping on “Lazy Holiday” and I pause… rewind…repeat. Yes, there are definitely some raptastic flows occurring in this one.
And with that said, Audio Moonshine blends and bends genres but manages to emanate a pop appeal I would not expect from a band cutting their teeth in Boise, Idaho. But, then again, stranger things happen all the time.
In our interview, Jake briefly discusses the growth of the scene in Boise which is providing more opportunities for the indie music scene to come together and be heard. I’m expecting to hear more Idaho music soon, but back to The Speakeasy Sessions.
Taking elements of classic rock, melding them with 90s alt-rock, and adding some bluesy-ameri-folk spices into the mix; Audio Moonshine has a unique sound. One that appeals to the senses. One that stimulates the emotions. And one that will make your body move.
From the rockin’ opener “All My Life” to the reggae-esque, rap influenced “Lazy Holiday” on to the more country, folk sounds of “I Forgot”, Audio Moonshine is a force to be reckoned with.
It’s been a long time since I’ve heard this many genres sound so good together.
