Two people, two different worlds, one common goal… make good music.
Hard Jazz 7 and Mic Hand Recordings are happy to announce the release of rapper/producer duo, Strangers Of Necessity’s (S.O.N.) debut EP, Tangerine Avenue. In a recent review of the project, Tyler James states:
“They knock and groove. You can swag or space out on ’em. It bathes in vinyl crackles, tasteful jazz and soul samples, crisp snares, boomy kicks on wonky patterns, clips of stiff dudes giving absurd PSA’s. Sun Ra even speaks out from the intro, hipping us to the nature of vibration. I think the feel is best phrased on “Reflections” – “Strangers make me just wanna roll up and smoooke one.”
“The raps are why this project is going to stay on play for some time now. I knew Fooch was nice with it, but on Tangerine Avenue his soulful delivery, dense schemes and potent punch-lines hit peaks before unseen. Dude’s got dexterity. Peep him in attack-mode on “Visions” and then hold down the pocket on “Bonita’s Dream.” Even if the bars weren’t holding knowledge the flow would be potent enough…”
Strangers Of Necessity consist of up and coming producer, CoryAyo from Iowa City,IA, and veteran rhyme sayer, Fooch the MC, from Chicago,IL. The two connected by chance via twitter, after Cory saw Fooch in a 319 cypher video on youtube. They linked up offline and quickly became friends, sparking an immediate chemistry and need to make music together; hence the name Strangers Of Necessity.
Tangerine Avenue is an album that baptizes you in a fresh take on that golden era hip-hop sound, reminiscent of Gangstarr and Pete Rock & CL Smooth. Be on the look out for Tangerine Avenue 9/16/14.
