Bellingham, Washington’s The Heligoats might be headed by the guitar-strumming mastermind Chris Otepka, but it is ultimately a collective of musical talent that forms an incredible indie rock soundscape.
The music is powerful, energetic, and in-your-face. Otepka’s imagination and creativity blend in to set his style of music apart from the abundance competing for attention in the realm of indie rock. All the other bands should follow Chris’ example.
Otepka has been writing for The Heligoats for over a decade.
From 1999 – 2005, his musical energy was consumed by his band Troubled Hubble (out of Chicago) who found quite a bit of success touring. During the down times, Chris wrote and composed for The Heligoats. When Troubled Hubble played their last show, Chris redirected his musical energy into The End of All-Purpose.
His newest album, Back to the Ache, is scheduled for release in December.
