Half-Life is a record infused with funky blues-rock, punk attitude, and a whole a lot of soul delivered by a master songwriter on a mission to spread her wings and share her message through art.
About the new record, Mase had this to say:
“I wanted to go back to the personal. They say you can find the universal in the personal.”
The title of the album comes from a potent quote by Junot Diaz, “the half-life of love is forever”.
Half-Life sounds like the soul of Jim Morrison channeled through Frank Zappa’s experimental mindset. Marla Mase is what would happen if Iggy Pop and Patti Smith had a daughter and raised her to lead the Henry Rollins Band.
