Free and All Ages Featuring 45+ Portland Bands.
In keeping with their legacy as one of the nation’s few free, all ages, and all-volunteer music festivals, the PDX Pop Now! festival returns July 24-26 with over 45 genres-spanning sets from Portland musicians. Set amid the Southeast industrial district at AudioCinema, the festival will feature two stages, food carts, a street fair, and Portland’s renowned band basketball tournament Rigsketball.
PDX Pop Now! will continue their partnership with Music in The Schools, providing a second year of curated sets from Portland high school bands.
Now in its 12th year, what started as a listserv for Portland music has grown into a non-profit organization with over 100 annual volunteers. As a launching point for new Portland bands, and a historical reference point for others, bands that have performed over the years include Blitzen Trapper, Grouper, Joggers, The Thermals, Menomena, Mirah, YACHT, Slimkid3, Witch Mountain, and hundreds more ranging from pop to metal and hip hop.
An all-volunteer, non-profit organization, PDX Pop Now! is dedicated to stimulating and expanding participation in Portland music. Through the annual three day free festival, yearly classroom events, and two-disc compilation of all Portland artists, PDX Pop Now! strives to actively engage the community and amplify participation and vitality throughout Portland’s music scene.
What’s more, PDX Pop Now! works to fulfill this mission in a democratic and accessible way. Productions are curated through a public nomination process and a volunteer voting committee with a focus on being inclusive to all genres and age groups in Portland.
