Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s indie post-punk-psychedelic-shoegaze rockers the Tapebenders released their new album Chasing Ghosts back in August.
We’re a little late to this fantastic voyage of aural stimulation but when the music rocks; the music rocks.
After a creative period that resulted in the release of three EPs in a span of 11 months as the Elusive Parallelograms, Tapebenders are opening their arms to a new era of growth as musicians and as a group.
This 6-piece of tasty in-your-face noise have created a unique sound that spans the spectrum from prog rock to psychedelic to gritty blues to pop and many variations in between.
Think Smashing Pumpkins making babies with The Dandy Warhols who then allowed those babies to be raised by a crew of nannies known as The Flaming Lips.
…yeah, it’s craziness, amplitude, texture, profundity, and all out in your face rock wrapped up into an intense 13 songs.
This record is the result of undying dedication, curiosity, and countless late nights in the basement producing something special. This is what it sounds like “when the magic happens”.
Tapebenders began their journey in 2008 as the Elusive Parallelograms and since have received praise and recognition by the likes of Fearless Radio, Performer Magazine, Alternative Press, Slug Magazine, Speakercreatures, The Fire Note, Babysue, Absolutepunk.net, AV Club Milwaukee, Uncut Mag (UK), Rocksposure, and On Milwaukee.
Having survived a few changes in the line-up, the current group of masterminds now includes Andrew Foys (vox, guitar), David Schessow (vox, guitar), Jeff Krause (bass), Stefan Dostanic (guitar), Adam Asher (keyboard), and Willam Pogue on drums.
Individually, these creative souls have walked different but somewhat parallel paths and are now focused on exploring, discovering, and creating the best music they possibly can.
“Because of our varied personal stories and hurdles, there is this feeling of freedom in the band—we don’t like to be boxed in,” Foys explains.
