Full Q&A along with links and a stream of Big below.
Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)
I am from Long Island and my music is pop with a little twist of soul all with the intention of empowering others.
What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to stay the course?
I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease at 11 years old and found my strength in music and artists such as Sara Bareillesand P!nk. I became motivated to use my passion of music to help others the way music helped me. I continue on my journey of creating music because I have such a supportive family who remind me of my strength and desires everyday.
How is your new release different than previous ones? Did you set out to accomplish anything specific?
“Big” is my first release and my goal with this single is to encourage people to live by their own standard and live to the “max”.
Do you face challenges as an indie musician in a digital age? How has technology helped you (assuming it helps)?
I haven’t really faced many challenges as an indie artist. Technology has benefited me by allowing me to share my story and my music with a larger platform.
Where can we connect with you online and discover more music?
My social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and SoundCloud are sydneyray03.
Anything else before we sign off?
I hope that my music can help others to face challenges with strength and courage.
