New York City based Americana singer-songwriter Steven Blane delivers potent lyrics, melodically rich song structures, and soulful performances on his forthcoming album, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, scheduled for release in September (2021).
More than just Americana, Steven Blane seamlessly blends Folk, Pop and Jazz into an acoustic-driven collection of songs that are stylistically reminiscent of music from the catalogs of Tom Waits, Roy Orbison and Leonard Cohen. A multi-instrumentalist and producer, Steven self-produced Boulevard of Broken Dreams while also playing guitar, ukulele and piano on all the tracks.
Through his music, Blane weaves very human and very relatable stories into his lyrics. Backed by highly emotive and engaging performances, these stories come to life through ballad-esque pop jams that leave me personally feeling like I just made a visit to NYC’s Tin Pan Alley for a session with the city’s top songwriting talent.
I’m a big fan of the piano work throughout this album. There are many moments where Steven enters into these piano-driven sections of the songs where the melodies and tones are undeniably moving, plucking those heart and emotional strings with ease. If I can guarantee one thing, it’s that Steven Blane is a true master of his craft creating music that resonates with an eclectic mix of listeners from all walks of life.
It’s hard for me to pin down a favorite out of the 10 songs included on Boulevard of Broken Dreams. However, some definite standout tracks include: Pour Me A Beer That’s As Cold As My Ex-Girlfriend’s Heart, Bliss, The Bridge, and Boulevard of Broken Dreams.
Boulevard of Broken Dreams is scheduled for release on September 7th!
