Steve Markoff, Patricia Lazzara and Allison Brewster Franzetti have returned, yet again, with another single in anticipation of their forthcoming album release. This single is their flute and piano-infused rendition of an Eric Clapton classic, Layla!
Now I must admit, my father is a huge Eric Clapton fan. One of the things he successfully did was pass down his appreciation of Clapton’s music to his son, aka me. When I first started teaching myself to play guitar, Clapton’s (and Cream’s) albums were played A LOT. With that in mind, it’s safe to assume I was pretty excited to see that Layla was Steve and Patricia’s next single!
As Allison opens up the track with the easily recognizable piano melody, Steve and Patricia soon bring in the woodwinds to deliver a smooth dance of catchy, memorable flute melodies that carry you through the song from beginning to the end. You can hear the passion as Patricia and Steve let loose over a time-tested and listener approved classic rock hit; one that never gets old!
In the words of my rocker self, Steve and Patricia JAM while Allison maintains the beautiful and strong foundation that allows their flutes to soar. If this were the classic rock era, Steve and Patricia are the classical flute equivalent to dueling lead guitars. Buckle up and enjoy the sonic experience.
