Space Motel have released their sophomore album Arrival…no clue who Space Motel is? Buckle up!
Space Motel formed in 2007 when Jim Muro, Willie Myette, Zach Paquette and Nate Davignon decided to join forces in creative expression. After years of recording, they released their debut album Departure in 2015 and immediately began writing and recording for the follow-up Arrival.
To put some really sweet icing on this already amazing musical layer cake, Space Motel also includes a rotating list of creative talents who contribute to the cause. This list includes: Mike Baez (of On the Drop) , Eric “Benny” Bloom (of Lettuce, Pretty Lights, Soul Live), Grayson Farmer (of Jazz Farmers, Mighty Sam McLain, Soul Shot), Rob Hanna (of Moi, The Dub Room), Steve Malec (of The Electric Flood), Shane Manzi (of Fungus Amungus, Electric Church), Frank Moniz (of The Agents, Shoul Shot, Frankie Ranks), Lon E Plynton (of The Mystic Jammers) and Garrett Shider (of Parliament Funkadelic).
This all star cast of musicians, songwriters and performers create a wall of soulful, funkified rock music that is guaranteed to please and you will want to listen to the album on repeat…or at least come back for another round time and time again.
Focusing on the core four of Space Motel, Jim Muro was the lead singer of On The Drop from 2000 to 2010 where he shared stages with names such as Sean Paul, 311, Spin Doctors, Bad Fish, Rustic Overtones and State Radio.
Willie Myette is an accomplished and world renowned author of music education books. He is also well known for his innovative approach to online piano and theory lessons for all skill levels from complete newbie to full time professional. In addition to having 12 books published by one of the world’s biggest companies for educational resources (Melbay and Alfred), Willie has also toured with Herbal Nation, Mystic Jammers, Katahdin’s Edge and many more.
Zach Paquette is the masterful sound engineer who operates RI Red Studios in addition to several rehearsal spaces in the Rhode Island area. He has also played bass and sax for the band Tevellus on top of all the ghost tracks he has contributed to for bands and artists recording in his studio.
Last, and certainly not least, Nate Davignon has been touring the USA since 2000 playing percussion and drums with multiple groups including Fungus Amungus and Mystic Jammers. He also frequently serves as guest percussionist with The Sam Kininger Band, Akashic Records, and a variety of other groups that require his unique talents.
The core four and their A-list team are just continuing to do what they all do best…create great, original, refreshing music that can stand the test of time.
Arrival is definitely an album fans of soulful, funky, rock music will want to add to their collections.
