Huntington Beach, CA aka Surf City, USA has a musical legacy matched by only a few other cities on the map.
First made famous by the #1 song ‘Surf City’ by Jan & Dean, the area also bred talent such as Avenged Sevenfold, Reel Big Fish, Dean Torrence, Matt Costa and The Vandals as well as members of The Offspring, The Aquabats, Alien Ant Farm, Korn, and The Stone Temple Pilots.
You could say Sonny Spectrum is just doing what comes naturally.
His first musical foray came as a member of the indie rock band Evening Hour. The band spent 4 years playing shows in Orange County which helped them build a local following but didn’t offer exposure of their talent outside county lines.
Determined to do things a little differently and take it a step further, Sonny Spectrum made the decision to go solo.
The result is this new 4 track self-titled EP released by ArtiSans Records. Despite playing guitar, piano, and bass, Sonny limited himself to vocals only for the EP and hired studio musicians to lay down the sonic backdrop.
Produced by Barrett Slagle, the Sonny Spectrum EP gives us a taste into the talented indie-folk-pop flavors emanating from Mr. Spectrum’s creative being.
Upbeat, uplifting vibes provide the foundation for Sonny’s excellent sense of melody. Be prepared to get up and dance as this EP is the perfect companion for a night of busting moves and letting loose for the weekend.
Sonny’s next goals are to hit the road for his first tour. Be looking out for a performance near you.
