Son of Strays have arrived with their self-titled debut album packed full of mystical Americana music.
Imagine wandering through the desert on a journey to find yourself. Son of Strays is the perfect theme music.
Hailing from San Diego, California, this songwriting duo explore themes of ego, addiction, war, and transformation. Angela and David Blacker have found their inner voice and they are staying true to it.
Also appearing on the album in support of this powerful duo is Brendon McNichol on Guitar and Lap Steel, David M Santos on Bass, Jeffrey Serra banging on Drums, Percussion, and Piano, and Peter Farrell on Keys and Synth.
Of course, that beautiful female voice you hear is Angela accompanied by David’s gritty, yet soothing, narrations and complimentary guitar playing.
Currently I am a big fan of Hard Road Going, Can’t You See, and Tomorrow’s Dream.
Tomorrow’s Dream ends with this bad ass jam that closes out the album.
I stood in silence for a few moments waiting for the next track to play…guess I will have to repeat! (But I must admit I have already listened through 3 times.)
The spirit of this album is very much about renewal and change; moving on and letting go and the ghosts you encounter along the way.
