Serapicos Is A Town, no…really.
When Gabriel Serapicos took a trip through the tiny rural city of Serapicos, some of the blurry things suddenly became clear.
“The town was creepy. It had a small church but not much else. This song [Serapicos Is A Town] represented where all the songs were situated; everything started to make sense.”
Serapicos Is A Town is an epic adventure in indie pop rock. This music is intense, witty, and creative.
On the song Blow Me, Serapicos opens this love song with “my hands were on your breasts/your hands were on my penis/we were about to rest/let’s just take one more minute”. Quirky lines and other intriguing nuances are abundant throughout the 15 tracks that make up Serapicos Is A Town.
Serapicos’ native tongue is Portuguese (he is from São Paulo, Brazil) but he finds singing in English makes him feel more connected to rock ‘n’ roll culture. The songs on this album were influenced by a time when he was thoroughly studying the catalogs of the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Johnny Cash, Radiohead, System of a Down, Beethoven, and the Magnetic Fields.
Quite an eclectic range of music which makes for quite the eclectic opus that is Serapicos Is A Town.
I really dig this album and all its witty, dry quirkiness. It really is epic. Time to grab your copy.
