Rockford Road formed for the sole purpose of writing and recording original Retro-Rock style music. No better purpose if I can say so myself!
Initially a duo consisting of Bob Mahan (lead vox/guitars/keyboards) and Jim Davidson (drums/percussion), Rockford Road has grown to now include the talents of Tom Wisneski (bass/vox) and Mike Lara (rhythm guitar/vox). Not only can these guys lay down some serious vocal harmonies, they are each top notch musicians and song craftsmen in their own right. Combined…let’s rock!
Blending the vibes and aesthetics of classic rock, folk, and good ole Americana, Rockford Road sets out to smooth the rough edges with their new album 60 Grit.
In addition to their musicianship, the group is great at telling stories. On 60 Grit, each track serves as an one-act play that contributes to an overarching theme of living life to the fullest and sharing those experiences as much as you are able. Touching on relationships, life lessons, and powerful stories, 60 Grit is a good ole rock n roll album you can simply put on and allow to play.
Beautiful vocal harmonies, extended and soaring lead guitar solos, gently rolling rhythms and the warm embrace of good old fashioned Americana not only entertains the senses but does so while nurturing our spirit. The stories come from the heart. The music from the soul. Rockford Road is the perfect soundtrack for evenings on the back porch, long drives through the countryside, or just to unwind after a long, hard day at work.
I am unable to pinpoint a favorite track on 60 Grit. I have been enjoying the entire album from front to back. The less distractions during that time frame, the better!
