Matt Tyson and Morgan Shinstine are musicians embracing the digital frontier and taking full advantage of their abilities to create music despite physical distance. Each creative, from their respects coast of the U.S., write, record and release music as Relative Rabbit.
Their latest album, I Could Be Mistaken, was released earlier this year as the follow-up to their 2016 project, A Chemistry Within.
Encapsulating an eclectic palette of musical styles within their songwriting adventures, Relative Rabbit run the gamut of soundscapes from aggressive, adrenaline producing pieces with Beatles-esque vocal performances (Opus 28 Leaving Chance) to softer, more pop-oriented jams (Copenhagen Street) to electro-infused, cinematic soundscapes (Promised Land) to surf rock vibes (Lies) to more grungy, Alice In Chains-esque tracks (The Outlier) and even downtempo, ambient tunes sprinkled with synths and plenty of engaging, textural sonic nuance (As Fate Would Have It).
Relative Rabbit’s progressive nature, their willingness to experiment and blend styles, their high caliber of musicianship, and their ability to match that level of talent with an equally high level of engineering and production quality guarantees that I Could Be Mistaken is a rock album that deserves to be listened to from beginning to end.
Although each song could stand on its own as a single, I Could Be Mistaken, and all 14 tracks in its embrace, make a great album. In a world so focused on (often sub-par) formulaic singles, Relative Rabbit’s music is a breath of fresh air and a potent reminder that great rock music is still alive and well! We just need to know where to find it.
I Could Be Mistaken is available on Spotify or CD Baby.
