Looking for some jazz rock fusion you can groove to for an extended period of time over the coming holiday breaks? I thought you’d say yes, and I have just the album to deliver the sonic goods.
The album is Giotto Groove. The band is Germany based Pork Pie Hat.
Consisting of Thomas Wolff (guitars, guitar synth, production), Markus Hawig (piano, synthesizer), and Dieter Kowalczik (drums, percussion), Pork Pie Hat is a power trio of jazz wizards who know how to lock into a groove and make the party move with their distinct and never ending barrage of stimulating, fairly unpredictable sounds.
When I say unpredictable, I simply mean you have no choice but to buckle up and just ride on the sonic waves as they rise and splash onto shore. These masterful musicians obviously love to jam and capturing their mood, in the moment, without over analysis is what they do best.
Whether you are grooving with the bass, soaring with the winds, bouncing with the percussion or soaking in the guitars, Giotto Groove is a jazz fueled journey through an eclectic mix of stylistic nuances, very potent melodies, and an abundance of feel good music that I can guarantee will uplift the mood in the room no matter what time it is.
The repeat value on Giotto Groove should also be noted. Looking for songs to fill your instrumental, jazz rock, jam band playlists? Look no further.
Jamming this album (multiple times) over the previous couple weeks has proven an adventure in discovering previously unnoticed and undiscovered sonic gems meticulously placed into PPH‘s vibrant wall of sound.
