Thirty years ago, after recording some sides in Nashville which broke into the country charts, R Michael Rhodes walked away from a promising career in music in order to handle other things life had put into his path.
But Mr. Rhodes would meet his past again when his parents asked him to play at an organization they joined…
“My parents had joined a senior’s organization where they got together once a month for dinner and entertainment, and my mom talked me into playing it. I know this may sound a little silly, but that was a complete turning point for me,” the Colorado-based artist confides.
Feeling the creative spirit flowing through him after that first night of performing, Rhodes began crafting songs and working towards building a home studio.
After demoing 5 songs for his new EP, Please Remember Me; R Michael decided to give them the Nashville treatment.
The result is a collection of simple but powerful singles that reach deep into your emotions. With compassion in his voice and wisdom in his lyrics, R Michael Rhodes has created a record that sounds like a cross between James Taylor, John Denver, and Gordon Lightfoot.
The song “Where Are You Now” is dedicated to a close friend who suffered an injury so serious he never regained consciousness. Rhodes sings, “Where Are You Now/ I wonder if I ever cross your mind /Where Are You Now /I wish that I could say /I wish I knew a way / I’d like to say I love you one more time.”
“I took the CD to my buddy’s mom and I will never forget her reaction as she read that dedication inscription while the song was playing.”
This album is a healing process.
