What happens when a songwriter and musician from South Carolina blends the simplistic nuances of folk ballads, the progressive influence of bands like Pink Floyd, and the emotional/intellectual depth of John Lennon?
Your ears receive something along the lines of the “new classic rock”.
Gerry Jennings has a long history as a singer-songwriter with performances at classic venues such Nashville’s Bluebird Café. In 2006, Jennings sold his financial business to launch ISI Studios. This move obviously allowed him to focus on music production.
Taking us back to a time when music wasn’t considered authentic unless it was composed and played by musicians, Plastic Yellow Band Breathe Air into the rock {music} atmosphere. Their refreshing and modern songcrafting style maintains everything we love about classic rock without compromising their existence in the present year of 2014.
A beautiful sounding album, Breathe Air is one you will have on repeat.
Modeled after John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Plastic Ono Band, Plastic Yellow Band includes Gerry and the various creative talents who join forces with him. The current line-up includes: Gerry (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Joe Hurt (bass), and Karl Derrick Tesch (drums).
For the 2014 debut CD Breathe Air the group included Josef Patchen (piano, keyboards) with additional contributions by Dana Rideout (vocals), Joe Smith (guitar/slide guitar), Clay Lee (guitar synth), and Charles Yang (violin).
