Phillip Sandifer is a writer, recording artist and sometime music producer. His early years were rooted in contemporary Gospel with opportunities to record a duet with Jennifer Warnes, write songs for Glen Campbell and Fernando Ortega and have Roger Nichols mix one of his projects.
Sandifer has participated on recordings distributed by EMI, Disney, BMG and Warner Music Group although most of his solo recordings have been released on Urgent Records, an independent label he founded in 1984, and more recently on Wider Sky Music, both distributed by Sony’s The Orchard.
Phillip pressed pause on touring and recording in the late 90’s to launch a local community radio station (KDRP-LP, aka K-Drip) that serves the local community of Dripping Springs,TX.
KDRP plays an eclectic mix of music including Americana / Texana flavored music and involves many local personalities and now reaches into the city of Austin. The music of KDRP reawakened Sandifer’s songwriting passion by reminding him of the authenticity and real life subject matter of much of the Americana music genre. Through a number of twists and turns and a couple of projects since he has been able to craft together this new project “Recently Played”.
To me, it is collection of 12 songs of life, love, questioning and satire that has been one of my most rewarding endeavors of song craft and musical expression. I hope you find it to be worth the consideration for a review. Thanks you so much for reading and listening.
