It wasn’t that long ago we featured Phillip Broussard’s single Just Wanna Believe. Phillip is back and this time he has his 5-track EP, Wavelength.
Discovering music early in life when his father first brought home a guitar. His father’s plan was to learn to play guitar himself but he soon discovered Phillip picking it up and playing when (he thought) no one was watching. Those early moments are the ones that sparked Broussard’s passion and desire to learn more about the instrument and creating music.
When he was just 18 years old, Phillip suffered the loss of his father, his grandfater and his uncle within a 6 month period. In an attempt to distance himself from the grief and to find his way in the world, Phillip joined the United States Navy. It was during his service, after receiving a copy of John Mayer’s album Room For Squares, when Phillip’s passion for music reignited itself.
After being deployed to support Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, Phillip used his downtime to refine his guitar playing and songwriting skills.
Now back in the States, living and working in Washington State, Phillip continues exploring, refining, and exercising his passion for music, the guitar and writing appealing, acoustic-driven, bluesy-pop songs that are nothing short of pleasing to the ears.
His latest EP, Wavelength, includes Just Wanna Believe (which we have featured before) along with 4 other songs that result in a very strong project. Throughout the five tracks, we are treated to a consistent swarm of charming yet bluesy jams which many of us can easily relate to.
That accessibility is what makes Phillip’s sound so warm, comforting and welcoming.
