Part Time’s recordings started early on in the late 90’s and throughout the 2000’s, as a side project forDavida Loca while he was playing in rock n roll/garage/psych bands in Austin, TX (Toko Ri Get High,The Dazzling King Solomon Band) and with Oakland, CA punk rockers (The Time Flys). Instead of loud and wild rock & roll, his past musical makings were lo-fi synth pop made on cheap-sounding casio keyboards, 4 track tape machines, electric guitars, and drum machines. Part Time became a full-time musical gig as people began noticing and releasing his records in 2011. A single for Loglady Records (Visions of the Future) and an album for Mexican Summer (What Would You Say?) were both released in 2011, while a cassette for Burger Records followed in 2012. Speck formed a live band for shows and touring, and also began recording even lower-fi synth pop songs as Davida Loca.
As of now Part Time/Davida Loca has released numerous full length releases from LP’s, cassettes tapes and 7 inches of his past recordings along with newer creations and has shown no sign of stopping anytime soon. Part Time’s second album, PDA, was released by Mexican Summer in the summer of 2013 and has just now finished with his next 7 inch on Burger Records and three full length cassette tape releases (Burger/Lollipop Records) & (Plastic Response Records) that will be out next month. Part Time/Davida Loca’s next full length LP also seems to be in the works and will be released on Burger Records later this year along with a european tour. In every successive release as Part Time and Davida Loca, Speck is writing himself into the same brilliantly invertible nook where Ariel Pink and R. Stevie Moore sip cups of tea on the ceiling.
