Smart Heart is an EP consisting of songs written by brothers Ritchie and Dave Williams before Dave suffered mental and medical complications after an opioid related incident. Nearly all the songs on this project were co-written by the brothers but one crucial element was missing from the mix…a worthy vocalist.

Enter Rachel Grace who was discovered one month before the EP reached completion. Joined by creative forces Kevin Sims (bass) and James Owen (percussion), Nocturnal Blonde became the powerful four-piece performing on this album.

Originally created to bring awareness about mental clarity and substance abuse through storytelling, Nocturnal Blonde is truly music with depth and purpose. As the opioid epidemic continues escalating into record numbers sweeping many who are close to us into it’s unforgiving grasp, Smart Heart‘s message and soundscape has arrived right on time.

From the intimate folk stylings of the opening track Drained to the more country blues-esque All Those Angels onto the more dreamy Blown Away, the beautifully pop-oriented Two Trees and the closing, musically minimal Smart Heart, Nocturnal Blonde manage to captivate our senses and emotions with engaging melodies, heartfelt stories, and a central theme which is easily accessible by listeners of all forms.
