Ukrainian composer Sergey Rybytskyy is at it again, looking in new directions with his latest, “New Vistas“. The new record rocks! Opening big and bold Rybytskyy makes it known right from the start that he has a new outlook to show us.
It’s a bright vista that we “see” on this record as compared to a dark vibe on the last (In Labyrinths of the Soul). It’s as if the composer has found his way through ominous times and has found inspiration! That’s not too say he doesn’t treat us to some bone crushing metal along the stunning tour of these new scenes. There’s plenty of that in, full choral glory. But even the minor tunes have a sense of conquest and triumph to them.
Rybytskyy’s chops have gotten even better over time and his composition skills have really come to the forefront. Evidence is in the big band style track “Waltz in A moll,” with it’s cool vibe and chords, it would make a killer James Bond(r) theme song. Other tunes on the disc remind me of a high-speed-auto-chase game.
Sergey gives us sexy waltzes and pounding metal, cool jazz and amazingly fast classical all bundled up in one great self-produced, independent record. That’s quite an accomplishment. All I can say is that I’m looking forward to the next vista, already.
