Gregory Jerome puts the “Reality” back into hip hop music without the mindless bravado or the need for ultra-misogynistic posturing. “Belafonte” strips away cultural differences and gets down to what connects us as humans whether it’s needs or aspirations, it’s universally connective music.
“Belafonte” is a song that represents the trials and tribulations, protection of God’s grace and mercy that intertwines with identifying his purpose in life. The song is free form experimentation and nothing is off-limits. It is creative; it is in essence the collage of sonic art. Hip hop doesn’t steal sounds, it breaks them down and reinterprets them with a new identity. It takes fragments to create a cohesive whole. Gregory Jerome’s cerebral versatility is by far his greatest gift. He truly understands that words have power and music need not be defined to be understood and felt.
Gregory Jerome, an Oklahoma City native, has dedicated his life to being an ambassador of hip hop and creative arts. Gregory Jerome is True Hip Hop in a Time of Disposable Society. He often collaborates with artists and performers of all genres and styles, in efforts to expand his creative movement. The new single, “Belafonte,” will be released on April 18, 2014. http://www.audiomack.com/artist/gregory-jerome
