Mutlu has taken the top spot as my newest favorite artist…at least for now!
Philadelphia based singer/songwriter Mutlu delivers lyrically potent songs over soothing soundbeds of silky smooth Philly soul. With an advance copy of the new album in rotation (it drops August 9th), the sounds, the vibes, and the impressive musicianship have won me over.
It was recently that someone sent me the video for Lifeline, off the forthcoming Good Trouble album. I was a fan as soon as I watched that video. I reached out to set-up an interview feature (and succeeded). The next thing I know, Good Trouble is in my inbox offering me advance access.
Talk about a wonderful surprise! This record is a gem, a diamond in the rough, the crème de la crème slowly rising to the top. On August 9th, you need to listen to this album!
Have I mentioned Mutlu has toured extensively with Daryl Hall & John Oates? He also holds the distinction of making the most appearances on Daryl Hall’s TV show Live From Daryl’s House. Mutlu was also the support act when Joe Jackson brought the Rain tour through North America. He also toured extensively as support for singer/songwriter Amos Lee. In the process of all this touring, he has shared stages with Adele, Katy Perry, John Hiatt, Leon Russell, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Todd Rundgren, Shuggie Otis and many more.
For now, watch the video for Lifeline below or subscribe on YouTube.
