Aubrey the Poet
Aubrey The Poet headlined the event. Aubrey Simpson, also known as Aubrey The Poet from Nashville, Tennessee, brought static to the stage as the crowd was shocked and charmed by his spoken word poetry and philosophy.
As Poet of the Angels welcomed Aubrey The Poet to the stage, he sat in his seat and then stood up on the table and said,
“I will stand and deliver this poem from my seat because when these histrionic willows weep, their tears will flood this room. Believe me; the shit gets deep. Drowning in history’s sorrows. Forget the promises of our ancestors’ tomorrows”,
These words are the opening message of his poem, Prophetic Gestation.
As he continued the poem, the stage opened a gate of philosophy and poetic flow. Aubrey The Poet said this is what he is born to do – to travel and spread the message behind his philosophy and poetry.
He related to the audience commentary between poems as he introduced each original piece performed, including: Prophetic Gestation, Flesruoy evol (Love Yourself in reverse), Like a Simile, Aubany (about his daughter), Stop Running (about his Stepfather) and closed with his poetic masterpiece, Die Out Loud (about the death of Treyvon Martin).
