It was not too long ago I interviewed the Arkansas based husband-wife duo Monsterboy. Bouncing back and forth between Little Rock and Nashville, this power team has prepared an EP featuring stories of their work and travels with music. Their EP is titled The Nashville Sessions. Be sure to check out our interview (opens in new tab).
Chris Long plays guitar, keys as well as handling programming and vocal duties. Veronica Wirges plays saxophone, percussion and handles the lighting aspect of the team’s performances.
Before embracing Monsterboy as their band name, Chris Long was spotted playing acoustic versions of the group’s songs at Bonnaroo 2017. MTV.com, taking notice, grabbed the duo for an interview about their journey carving out a niche in the modern pop market. With a hybrid, distinct sound that embraces elements of pop, country, EDM and alternative styles, Monsterboy delivers infectious and uplifting song arrangements which will stick with you long after each song ends.
By combining programmed electronic elements with the more organic feel of their instrumentation and songwriting, Monsterboy create original jams that are equal parts indie rock, synth and alt-pop.
Whether you are jamming to the sounds of I’ll Find My Way, My Heart or the forthcoming single Paper Cup, I guarantee your ears will be treated to a refreshing, distinct and mood boosting array of sounds. Keep your eyes and ears on Monsterboy as their trajectory is sending them in the right direction to be a much more prominent force in pop music in the near future.
