Growing up on a South Jersey farm on the cusp of a shifting time when the classic, warm and welcoming American Heartland lifestyle began transforming into the hell raising ’60s and on to the fast-paced overhaul of the modern industrial complex, Mike Marino‘s new record is as timeless as it is timely.
With an excellent blend of American Roots balancing between blues, folk, and West Coast influenced alt-country rock sounds, Marino’s music captures and preserves vintage and nostalgia-inducing arrangements on his new album Tomorrow’s Yesterday.
These twelve songs of vintage American roots come with a stacked roster of all star talent including Nashville all-stars Jimmy Heffernan and Danny Eyer. Nationally recognized bluesman Mike Dugan and Carlo Dalessandro also bring their amazing talents to this album.
Mike shared production duties with Ron DiSilvestro while tracking at Forge Recording. To put the icing on this tasty musical layer cake, Marino tapped into the mixing skills of Grammy winner Phil Nicolo and handed the mastering duties off to multi-Grammy award winning Richard Dodd.
Considering these guys have worked with names like Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, Tom Petty and George Harrison, there’s no denying Tomorrow’s Yesterday is American roots music made by American roots masters for a worldwide audience who can’t get enough of the great sounds and the great musicianship that is often lacking in the over-polished recordings of today’s more popular genres.
After surviving a life-threatening illness and finding strength through his father (who passed away during this time), Mike’s dedication to finishing this album further fueled the spark to create something memorable, highly enjoyable, and a tasty piece of that traditional American pie.
I kept his picture in the studio because I wanted to finish it for him, and, in the end, I dedicated this album to him,” Mike shares. “Making it made me more positive. It forced me to reach deeper into my soul,” says Mike.
