Mid Tenn Listens is launching a whole new Live Review series for our most serious music submissions.
Our panel will listen to music which will be presented to a live studio audience who will be able to join the review process with us.
Those who have submitted music know to expect an honest opinion from our panel, so this could get fun!
We had a great time with our panel of guests and our special sponsors, Hangout Records
First up is:
“Feeling Good” by Alec
Second:
Sam Burchfield’s “Here Tonight”
Our 3rd selection:
“Rescue” from Fire and the Romance
4th on the list:
Moss Da Beast with “Surfing in the Air”
Last up is Date Night doing “Girl”
Some basic information about the program
What’s in this for the bands:
While we can legitimately claim to be able to get your music heard by industry pros, it’s harder than it seems. That’s the cold hard truth for every promoter, pusher, or blogger, no matter how well connected.
In this format, we are guaranteeing that Mid Tenn professionals and other pros from various segments of the industry will hear your song and give their honest opinion of it. Having that credibility to stand on may help you land it on the next friendly desk.
With the additional “audience” you may be heard and enjoyed by up to 20 other people who are active in the music community and excited to be a part of sharing good music.
What’s in it for the panel:
They get the opportunity to mention their business and websites and to showcase their expert ear for music. That’s about it.
What’s in it for Mid Tn Music:
We currently are not making any profit for doing this, I have invested a few hundred hours over the past year setting up the idea and experimenting with platforms. As you know, a few people actually buy reviews from MidTn and a few make small donations to our cause. That doesn’t even cover the site hosting.
Going Forward – Full Disclosure:
Assuming the platform is successful… We would like to provide for show sponsor-ships and perhaps very short ads. I have a few great ideas as to how to do that.
Who will be involved:
I plan to pull panel members from my personal connections, private professional groups on Linkedin, G+ and Facebook, and from our list of trusted sources through MidTn. That means even you may be a panelist if you like! Hmmm even more opportunity for your firm.
The “studio audience” will come from similar resources, but will include more “general music lovers.”
How you can help the project succeed:
Word of mouth is still the best way to get attention. We’ll be promoting the shows across our social channels and websites, we’ll also track others who do the same and try to promote them as well.
Perhaps you want to sponsor a show or a series of shows. If so, you might want to get in while it’s still in the name-your-price beta phase.
If you find the show valuable, we hope you will suggest it to your friends.
