Mel Fine has accomplished quite a bit while in their youth. As the legend goes, Mel came out of the womb singing. By 6 months old, Mel would break out into song anytime someone grabbed their bottle from the fridge. By 7, they were writing songs. From the formative ages of 12-14, Mel wrote and co-produced an album; one of the songs hit #43 on iTunes Top 100 New Pop Releases chart.
Mel was gigging by 14 and released a second album by 17. At age 22, Mel Fine has performed on 100+ stages. In 2021, Mel was on the stage with Dr. Anthony Fauci as well as Roxanne Gay and Nina West who are alumni of Ru Paul’s Drag Race.
Berklee College of Music Voice Department awarded Mel the Performance Division Voice Award. They also landed second place in Berklee’s Songs For Social Change contest for “In Between“.
I mention all this to drive home the point that Mel Fine is a natural at writing powerful songs. Studying at Berklee serves as a platform where some serious leveling up is occurring in Mel’s blossoming career. If all has happened by age 22…imagine what will happen by age 32, 42, and so on!
With three songs currently available on streaming platforms, I’m having a hard time choosing a favorite. Like parenting children, each one is unique in it’s own special way.
