It’s official! I am now a Megan Johns fan.
Not only is it pretty awesome when a chick rocks out an acoustic guitar… but how much sweeter is it when you can classify her as an acoustic-doowop-goth-metal songstress?
Something like Trent Reznor taking over the Smashing Pumpkins and replacing Corgan with Tori Amos…
On Hey, Lonely, Ms. Johns delivers this unique, refreshing, and exciting blend of musical styles to create something I can only label as… Megan Johns.
Hailing from the urban oasis known as Champaign, Illinois, Megan released her first album at the young age of 16. She then began performing in front of a growing audience.
Soon she was receiving press in the local papers and collaborating with other talents such as Mountain Goats bassist Peter Hughes, Zoot Suit Riot engineer Billy Barnet, accomplished string and horn players, and emcee, Swords.
She performs solo as well as with her backing band, Moonwish (you can hear them on the record).
Hey, Lonely earned her the label Best Singer-Songwriter of 2012 by online magazine Smile Politely.
This is one to add to your collection.
Go grab the album then connect with Megan on Facebook.
