I had the pleasure of talking with Matthew Heller yesterday. Joshua turned me on to his music which is like a velvet covered sledge hammer that pummels the psyche into blissful submission.
Heller’s tunes are complicated, simple but complicated… they tell bits of stories from his own life mixed with reality and fantasy, hope and despair are juxtaposed in a way that goes down like a fine ale and a jager chaser.
We got into some neat topics over the phone. Have a listen and find out what Matthew thinks about Hard Work and the American Dream, and why he thinks what he does.
Learn about his views on fancy gear like Neumann mics and Teletronix compressors. They probably aren’t what you think.
AND get the scoop on his upcoming record (his second release) “Invitation.”
After the interview, you’ll probably want to check out some tunage, so here ya go…
What do you think of Matthew’s attitude? Let us know!
