In this interview we chat with Mark Sanders during a songwriting break at Studio A of Dream Time Studios located in Traverse City, Michigan.
Introduce yourself to our readers and describe the style of music you create.
Hi Everyone, Mark Sanders here. I am writing from Dream Time Records studio A where I am working on original songs for my next CD. Dream Time is in beautiful Traverse City Michigan on the shores of Lake Michigan and it is an awesome of year up here. I hope that you have had a chance to hear my latest CD “The Gamble” I am really happy with it in fact it is my favorite release so far.
Who or what influences your playing and/or writing styles? Also, what motivates you to keep creating?
My two biggest influences and inspiration musically are the British invasion bands of the 60’s and 70’s and the original Chicago Blues masters like BB King, Howlin Wolf, and The Paul Butterfield Blues Band.
This may seem like an unusual combination but I know that when you hear my music you will see it right away.
What was the last song you listened to?
Lately I have been listening to “Let Me Get By” the great new CD by The Tedeshi Trucks Band.
Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what are one or two of the biggest challenges you face when trying to attract listeners to your music?
One of the challenges that I struggle with is genre classification. I feel that being outside of the classifications when creating original music is a good thing.
Do you gig, tour or perform through any live streaming services? Where can music lovers see you perform?
I am concentrating on recording right now but you can catch live video at www.facebook.com/marksandersband or www.reverbnation.com/marksandersmusic There are current performances and historic videos on both sites.
Where is the best place to connect with you online? Discover more of your music?
The best place to connect is at The Mark Sanders Band facebook page.
Any last thoughts? Shout outs? Words of wisdom?
I hope that each and every one of you gets to live your dream.
