Native to Norway, Marius Malmo began creating music off and on around 1997. Fast forward to the present and we have an uplifting, jamming, electro-pop single titled Memories of Joi, a look into the memories of an artificially made person…or should I say “person“.
Calling on the talented vocalist and lyricist Enlia, Malmo transports us to a Bladerunner-esque universe where we discover Joi struggling with existential crises such as “are her thoughts really her thoughts?” or “are these her memories?” or “Is she simply a shell?”…?!
With an uplifting, electro-pop sonic foundation, Memories of Joi presents such deep, possibly troubling – and even conflicting – thoughts through an easy listening, smooth, thoroughly enjoyable aural experience.
On a serious note, I have been listening to it multiple times, sometimes even on repeat for an extended period, and it hasn’t worn out yet. Great vibes, great energy and great depth!
With a collection of songs holding close to the Bladerunner theme, Malmo has more stimulating compositions available for our listening pleasure.
But you can jump straight to Memories of Joi on Spotify or Soundcloud.
