Let’s dive a little deeper into You, the artist and your music. What attracted you to this genre(s) or style(s)?
Well listening to electronic music all started on busses to school, a friend of mine would always jump on and start showing me a bunch of new songs he’d found. At the time I was more into my rock and metal and he also did; showing me bands such as being me the horizon and hadouken. After a while it took more of a dance music turn progressing from enter shikari, late of the peir and test icicles (all still rock with electronic tickles) onto the likes of justice, boys noize and crookers. It was with the rise of these new tastes that I started to search out my own new music. The progression has been natural from there really
How long have you been creating and sharing your music with the public?
I’ve been dabbling with creating music on and off from a pretty early age. When I was super young if play about with the ejay games on the computer. By 17 I started to play drums but never really got into a band, mostly because who I’d play with were more rock orientated and by then I was into dance music, but also I liked playing what I wanted to play. It was after dropping out of uni to study music technology at college that my creating really became a real passion and means of expression. That was 2011 so been sharing my stuff coming up to 5/6 years.
Who or what influences your playing and/or writing? Also, what motivates you to keep going?
When I start to find myself in a creative funk, I normally find watching YouTube videos is a good direction, especially the FACT magazine’s against the clock series! Watching some of my favourite artists smashing out a beat with all their equipment and seeing how much they enjoy it is great inspiration.
I dropped out of a potentially succesful choice at uni to do music because I wanted to earn money being happy what I do, that’s all the motivation I need!
Were you trying to accomplish anything specific on this new project? Creatively or otherwise?
I think the music I make reflects on what I’ve been listening to and enjoying at the time as well as my current aspects in life. I started “heater mix” version of radiator about a year ago, where I was in a job I may not of enjoyed so much and wanted to be moving on, on top of winter on the horizon I feel it’s given the song a darker, deeper tone while “thermo mix” has very much been made since moving to Brighton (something I’ve intended on doing for a couple years now) there much more energy in that version and I think it’s a reflection of my excitement and anxiety on things to come.
What was the last song you listened to?
On the way to work, Scuba’s remix of Call It Love by George Fitzgerald. An amazing remix of and amazing song, I rate both these artists as some of my favourites.
Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?
Vinyl will always be best but my finances say MP3!
How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?
I don’t particularly use any of these, I tend to buy as much of my music as I can for support of the artists and so I have the copy to use live. But out of the choices, Spotify is what I use most.
Where is the best place to connect with you online? Discover more of your music?
To discover my music soundcloud is the best place to go. If you want to get to know me then my Instagram is my favourite form of internetting with sprinkles of Facebook
What have you got planned next? Can we expect more music soon?
Absolutely! Been experimenting and creating tons of new ideas and will hopefully have an album or LP by the end of the year, been toying with the idea of a continuous mix through the songs but depends on how he finished product comes out.
Any last thoughts? Shout outs? Words of wisdom?
Well I always feel the need to share my life rule: it’s all about the PMA; which stands for positive mental attitude! And if you feel you have the talent then you have to give it a chance.
A massive shoutout has to go to the guys that made this all possible for me, vulpine records, and my parents for accepting and supporting my choice to drop out of university.
And of course shoutout to you guys for enjoying and sharing my music
