Fans can catch this incredible live concert, which is open to the public, onThursday, October 3, at the Memorial Gymnasium located on the Vanderbilt University campus in Nashville, Tenn. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show kicks off at 8 p.m. General admission and alumni tickets are $40. Vanderbilt faculty and staff tickets are $35. Platinum-selling rap artist, Kendrick Lamar was recently featured in Rolling Stone as one of the best live shows “raising the bar for hip-hop.” The 25-year-old rapper from Compton, Calif., has received many accolades for his success over the last few years, including being nominated for a 2013 MTV Video Music Award, a certified platinum debut album release, and taking home the “Best New Artist” and “Best Male Hip Hop Artist” at the BET Awards. He is currently the leading nominee for the 2013 Soul Train Awards with nominations for six awards, including album of the year for good kid, m.A.A.d city and song and video of the year for “Poetic Justice.” Lamar has also scored a whopping 14 nominations for the upcoming BET Hip-Hop Awards including “Lyricist of the Year,” “MVP of the Year” and “Album of the Year” for good kid, m.A.A.d city.
Wale’s latest gold-certified single, “Bad” featuring Rihanna, is currently topping the Billboard charts. His debut studio album,Attention Deficit, featured singles “Chillin,” “Pretty Girls,” and “World Tour.” Wale has been nominated for the upcoming BET Hip-Hop Awards in four categories including “Reese’s Perfect Combo Award” (Best Collabo, Duo or Group), “Impact Track,” and he will be competing with Lamar, who has also been nominated for “Lyricist of the Year.” In 2011, he signed on with Maybach Music Group and released his second studio album, Ambition, which ranked No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. The Washington, D.C. native is enjoying the release of his latest album, The Gifted, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart upon its release this past June.
