If you missed our recent interview with Canada based singer/songwriter Jordy Benattar, be sure to check that feature out here (opens in new tab).
Jordy has a refreshing sound reverberating through the realm of folk pop singer/songwriter. Delightful, soothing vocals that are equal parts organic folk and infectious indie pop collide with engaging soundscapes that reflect a wide array of stylistic elements. Her two latest singles Out of the Blue and The People are an excellent display of the contrasting stylistic elements which combine to form Benattar’s sound.
Out of the Blue sits more on the electro-pop side of the spectrum. With deep bass and crisp hi-hats driving an airy, contagious collage of frequencies, this track appeals to the modern music listener by combining more synth-fueled instrumentation with Jordy’s enchanting vocals for a song that could easily find itself on a pop playlist with Top 40 appeal.
Displaying her ability to keep it organic and more natural, The People is a simple, acoustic driven ditty featuring a contagiously pop rhythm, easily memorable melodies and a superb vocal performance. Jordy’s voice really shines as the centerpiece of this arrangement which carries listeners through an easy going, light and carefree composition.
The People would be an apt fit for any folk playlist with leanings toward the more pop side of the folk spectrum. Regardless of the style, Jordy’s voice is a pleasure to listen to and goes down easy like that perfectly brewed cup of mornin’ coffee!
