Jensen Reed has arrived with his own unique flavor of electro-hip-pop.
Combining upbeat, atmospheric instrumentals with Reed’s strong vocal delivery unleashes the next step in creativity for this North Carolina native.
Jensen first realized he wanted to walk the path of music when a high school friend needed a duet partner for a talent show. After performing “Pass The Mic” by Beastie Boys to an accepting crowd – Jensen was hooked.
In NC, his band Plan B were grabbing the attention of crowds up to 5,000 people but when the band’s momentum stalled, Jensen packed up with a 6 track EP and moved to Los Angeles.
He used his skills as a tennis pro and picked up a real estate license in order to survive on The Left Coast.
As in any situation, Jensen’s work allowed him to meet people. He shared his music, they enjoyed it, and it would be safe to say L.A. was a great move for a young Reed.
The Left Coast is a genre blending adventure through sound. Songs like “American Psycho” and “The Countdown” provide a different insight into the mind of Jensen. These darker, more industrial sounding tracks are a much needed break from the upbeat, poppy selections.
I can only take so much upbeat pop so these grittier more hip hop influenced tracks were a pleasure to my senses.
For those that like comparisons, Jensen’s creative style is a mesh of Linkin Park X Beastie Boys X Gym Class Heroes X Kid Cudi…yea, I think that about covers it.
Now is the part where you go grab a copy of The Left Coast or connect with Jensen on Facebook or Twitter.
