Jeffery Michael Straker has aptly titled his new release Vagabond.
Jeffery is quite the traveler.
This singer/songwriter/pianist performs over 100 shows each year across Canada. He recently recorded for CBC radio’s ‘Canada Live’, had a music video chart in the top 10 on Much More Music Canada, and in 2012 toured in Africa.
He recently played a sold-out show (capacity 2000) with the full Regina Symphony Orchestra.
Like I said, his new album is aptly titled…Vagabond.
Considering the album was produced by Canadian multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter Danny Michel, has received 4 out of 4 stars from the Toronto Star, and debuted in the top 20 on the iTunes singer-songwriter charts and in the top 10 on several college radio stations across Canada… I am not going to go on and on about how great the album sounds.
Originally from Saskatchewan, Jeffery delivers top notch, grade A adult contemporary folk-pop in the spirit of greats such as Elton John, Billy Joel, and Rufus Wainwright.
Vagabond consists of 9 of the most well crafted songs I have heard in the folk/pop genre for quite some time. Being born to an organist mother and an auctioneer father obviously has some benefits.
Jeffery is a musical descendant of Beethoven through teacher-student lineage (see his website for the full story). He was a student of the Royal Conservatory of Music and received his licentiate diploma in piano performance from Trinity College, London when he was just 19.
