Your Mid-Tenn Jedi were honored to be asked to write for our friends at 101 Distribution, in their latest project of covering the nation by state (guess which one we’re covering).
Following is an excerpt from our first article. I hope you’ll take the time to visit 101 to read the whole thing, check out their site, and spread the music love.
It’s Christmas Time in Music City!
The Holiday season is in full swing and so is the scene in Nashville. There is never a shortage of great musical events in the area, but each year at Christmas time, the place really blows up!
There is a reason it’s called “Music City” and this time of year proves it. You will find all sorts of things happening here for the next few weeks. From country to rock, classical, punk, hip-hop, and even Broadway will be heard all over town loud and proud!
Classics and Classical
Handel’s “The Messiah” has moved audiences for decades and is being presented at Schermerhorn Symphony Center on the 15th, 16th, and 17th. As the child of a classical piano and vocal coach, I grew listening to “The Messiah” and can honestly say that the Nashville Symphony performs it as well as any group ever has, definitely on the “do not miss” list.
The Radio City Christmas Spectacular® featuring the Rockettes is in Nashville for a 10th anniversary! New sets, new tunes and acts, and treasured classics will keep the whole family in the Christmas spirit. Shows are running through the 24th of December at the Grand Ole Opry House.
Country and Western
That’s right – Both kinds of music! I guess I really put a date on myself with that one.
