You guys have been at this a while. How has technology and the Internet changed the way you approach music as a business? Have there been significant changes from the very beginning until now?
The foot work has definitely been taken out of the process to a point. You don’t have to pass out flyers at the mall or on the streets, the internet has really taken promotion to a whole new level. Think about the money it takes to do a nationwide tour, and now if you have that right video, everyone in the world could hear you overnight! But you have to bring your A game or else you get lost in the fray.
Is the Internet/social media helping you connect with fans and expand to reach new ones?
Definitely. We’ve been doing a lot of work on social media recently and we’re really seeing the benefits. There is a personal touch that fans get from Facebook and Twitter that you could only get from being an MTV artist back in the 80’s and 90’s. We’ve recently increased our online fanbase by over 30% in the last year alone through hard work and of course our guru marketing manager Brian Fife of Fifestar Media.
Where can fans catch you live? Any tours coming up?
Up until now we’ve mainly stayed close to home, but now we’re expanding our reach to other markets in our region. We’re talking to you Chicago, Nashville, Memphis, Cincy, Atlanta and more. You can also catch us in Austin during SXSW. We’ve got two dates, Friday and Saturday so be sure to catch us if you’re down there!
Where can we find you guys online? Buy your EP?
You can buy physical copies of the CD from our webstore, www.thewhiskeyriders.com/store/ We’re also available digitally on iTunes, Amazon, GooglePlay and more.
Any last thoughts? Shout outs?
We’re really excited about this year and the years to come. Expanding our reach and fanbase, writing and recording are definitely on the agenda. Shout outs to all our ladies for putting up with our lunacy, our fans that have been with us from the beginning, and Brian Fife for doing what he do best.
