Let’s break the ice. Who are you? Where are you from? What style of music do you create?
I’m Mike Fresh aka Miguel Fresco. I grew up on the north side of Atlanta. I like to create whatever I feel. I don’t like to limit myself to a genre or style. A lot of hip hop and R & B influence makes its way into my songs of course but I’m experimenting with other genres as well.
How do you feel about the Hip Hop scene in Tennessee? A small sect of you guys have obviously realized unity brings greater things landing a TN Stage at A3C Fest… I can tell you with confidence that moves like this were not happening in indie Mid-TN Hip Hop 5-10-even 15 years ago.
I definitely respect the music scene in Tennessee. I’ve had the opportunity to visit Tenn a couple times for shows and it’s always cool to see what artists are playing out there. I like to know who’s coming up from city to city and what makes their movement move. Grew up on a lot of artist out of Tennessee like Three 6 Mafia, Project Pat, * Ball & MJG. And it’s dope to still see them winning alongside new guys like Snootie Wild who’s killin’ it right now.
In my opinion, Kelly Hite doesn’t get enough shine for the amount of grind she’s been putting in over the years. How has she been shaping and affecting the Nashville Hip Hop scene from your point of view?
Kelly shoots some of the dopest photos! She really has a big effect on the perception of an event based on the way she can capture it. Sometimes people don’t realize how powerful a picture is. I actually checked some of her photos on Waka when he came to Nashville earlier this year and you can just see the energy of the night in the pics. It’s crazy.
What was the last song you listened to?
“Mind Right” by TK & Cash. Shout out to those guys! They’re killin’ it right now too.
Who or what influenced/motivated you to walk this journey known as music? What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve faced since starting down this path?
I’ve always had family members that were involved music so I’d say that had the biggest effect on me pursuing the dream. The biggest challenge for me would have to be finding the right platform. Of course when you’re coming up you’ll take every opportunity to perform, record, release records in order to get yourself out there. As I grow in the game I find myself searching for the perfect platform for my content and sometimes that can be a challenge.
Where do you want to be in 10 years?
I want to be a classic artist, an accomplished songwriter, a studio owner, a restaurant owner, and a mentor to youth.
What should the audience expect from your performance at the A3C Tennessee Stage on October 11th?
Energy, a good time, and brand new music from the FRESCO EP!
What does this opportunity (A3C TN Stage) mean to you? How do you think it will effect your career from this moment forward?
I think being a part of the Tennessee stage is going to expose me to a lot of people who may have never heard my music before. There’s a lot of dope artists on the ticket as well and there will definitely be opportunities to collab with those guys after the event.
Where can we connect with you online? Find your music?
Any last thoughts? Shout outs?
Shout out to everyone I will be sharing the Tennessee stage with this year! Special shout out to Kelly Hite! Thank you guys for having me.
